Local days out on the train

When living in Worcester you have the advantage of having access to a very well-connected railway line, meaning there's plenty of places you can visit for a day-out. Whether you're craving some countryside walks, or you just fancy a change of scenery, there's lots more to see and do when you hop of the train. 

Don't forget, you may be eligible for a or - so why wouldn't you make the most of train travel!

Here's a quick guide to some of the places you can visit by taking the train from Worcester Foregate Street in the city centre. 

Cheltenham

If you fancy some festivals with a side of shopping and food, you can get yourself to Cheltenham Spa station in approximently 32 minutes from Worcester Foregate station . 

is known for being a , with annual events including its , , and festivals, alongside its renowned  at the racecourse. 

If you're looking for ways to spend time outdoors, Cheltenham has a range of award winning parks, such as Pittville Park, which overlooks the boating lake, has an avirary and surrounds the Pump Rooms. 

For shopping you can stroll the high-street and visit various chain stores or visit the Regent Arcade and Brewery Quarter shopping centres. 

There's also plenty to do if you're looking for activities for you and your friends to enjoy.  is also home to Hollywood Bowl, Escape Hunt (for when you've exhausted the rooms in Worcester) and Fight Club. For fans of swimming you could visit , a heated 50 metre swimming pool, just an 8 minute  from the town centre. 

For music and theatre fans, Cheltenham is also home to the  and  where you can often enjoy live music and comedy shows. 

Birmingham

from Worcester Foregate Street to Birmingham New Street station can get you into the city in approximently 45 minutes. You'll arrive in the city centre, well placed for enjoying the food in . 

No matter your food prefrences, there's something for everyone. My personal recommendation is visiting Chinatown, where you'll find Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai food and more!

Both the Bullring shopping centre and the high street are also where you can find popular restuarants and shops we don't have in Worcester city centre, such as UNIQLO, Levis, Pull & Bear, HMV, Pure Seoul, Selfridges, Muji, Rituals, Lego, Pop Mart, Miniso and much more. 

If you're looking for a culture themed outing, there are plenty of historical buildings to visit, plus the . You'll also find activities such as Escape rooms,   or you could pay a visit to the , or . Being home to both the and , there's also plenty of chances to enjoy a fantatsic concert or two. 

Ledbury

You can reach this historic market town in approximetly 24 minutes from Worcester Foregate Street. 

For anyone with a love of history, can provide a day out at Eastnor Castle, though on the outskirts of the town, the castle is accessible via a 6 minute taxi journey from the town centre, or a 50 minute walk through Ledbury Park. There are plenty of other historical attactions and museums within the town, including the 16th century painted room, and .

For shopping, Ledbury prides itself on being a small market town with lots of indepdent shops to explore, selling unique homemade gifts, homeware, clothes, books, and ethical and organic healthcare products. 

To further indulge yourself in countryside life, theres a range of tradditional inns and pubs serving freshly cooked food. 

Neighbouring the Malvern Hills there are also plenty of walking spots to choose from, perfect for that study break which combines fresh air, nature and exercise. 

Great Malvern

By  from Worcester Foregate Street to Great Malvern, you can find yourself in the glorious countryside in approximently 12 minutes.

You could enjoy a range of , catch up with friends in one of the cozy coffee shops, or have a shopping spree by visiting Malverns independent shops - the perfect place for finding those unique gifts.

is also home to various art galleries and hosts regular arts markets, giving you the chance to both admire and support local artists. 

You could also pay a visit to  and enjoy the latest performances and cinema viewings.
