The ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Worcester recognises that there is a need to manage water resources wisely. It has developed a
Water Strategy since 2006 to support the aim of reducing water consumption on campus. This sets out the drivers for reducing water consumption, our targets for reduction and a range of water reduction projects. More details and targets can be found in the
Energy and Water Management Strategy.
Our soil type is sandy; therefore, being very free draining, it does not retain much moisture. Therefore, we have to choose drought-tolerant plants. We do not carry out any additional watering.
We have a project co-created by students to identify more water-saving initiatives, following the success of previous students' projects to identify which type of water-saving taps and shower heads are preferred by students living in Halls.
Water SMART Targets
Our current targets and some examples of how we are going to achieve them can be accessed through the sustainability targets document.
Student water projects
A student project reviewed the information available about cup washing for students on campus. A new sink for washing re-use Keep Cups was installed as a result.
